Client Stories
Every horse arrives with an individual history, set of needs and relationship with their person. My work considers the whole picture—physical comfort, movement, hoof health, behaviour, environment and learning—while helping owners develop the understanding and practical skills to support lasting progress.
Andrejs and Impy
From recurring laminitis to health, confidence and thoughtful development
When Andrejs was new to horse care, Impy was experiencing recurring chronic laminitis associated with EMS and PPID.
Her recovery required a genuinely collaborative approach. Over eight months, Andrejs worked closely with barefoot trimmer Jarrod Craven and a veterinarian from Morphettville Equine Clinic, supported by carefully managed nutrition, daily movement and consistent care.
As Impy’s health improved, our focus expanded into foundational in-hand education. What began as a journey to restore physical comfort has developed into a thoughtful partnership grounded in understanding, trust and classical principles.
Matilda and Peppa
Positive reinforcement and a thoughtful start to ridden life
Peppa is a brumby from Kosciuszko National Park, and Matilda is a veterinary student committed to developing her young horse through positive reinforcement and considerate, horse-centred training.
Starting a young horse requires time, consistency and the ability to adapt to the individual in front of you. Matilda and I worked together to prepare Peppa for ridden life, building her education progressively while prioritising confidence, communication and emotional safety.
This collaborative approach allowed Peppa to develop the practical skills she needed without sacrificing trust or choice.
Kahli and Katie
OTT TB Katie and writer/director Kahli are a perfect match- they hear each other.
Exercise for health, and skill development for connection, is a long game, and sometimes requires a village.
Phoebe’s Kenya
Rebuilding confidence through foundational education
Kenya is a big ex-pacer with a wonderful personality and a complicated history around training.
Returning to foundational education gave him the opportunity to replace fear and confusion with greater understanding. We revisited groundwork, rein and leg aids, lunging and two-track work in hand, progressing at a pace that allowed Kenya to remain confident and engaged.
This patient rebuilding of his foundations supported his transition from pacing into life as a trail horse and eventually opened the door to liberty work.
“The improvements in my horse’s fitness, attitude and ability since Katie has been working with him have been amazing. As a super-smart and highly traumatised Standardbred, he can be a challenge, but her approach and ability to read his needs have created opportunities from those challenges and delivered incredible steps forward both on the ground and under saddle.
“Katie’s willingness to move at his speed, asking things of him at times and in places that are appropriate, has brought us to a place I wasn’t sure we would ever reach.”
